JGTC (Jeans General Trading Company L.L.C.) was established in Dubai (1973), as a producer, wholesaler, and retailer of ready-made branded apparel. JGTC’s business was mainly driven by local retailers and exports abroad. The gradual development of the business resulted in the launching of a long-awaited retail division, BAMBINO GIFT CENTER. The creation of the Toys and Gifts division began with the opening of a single retail outlet in Al Ghurair Centre, the first modern shopping mall in the Middle East. BAMBINO GIFT CENTER was responsible for the Middle East launch of brands from the following corporations: SANRIO (JAPAN), STEIFF (GERMANY), MOBILO (KOREA), RUSS (U.S.A.), and DAKIN (U.S.A.). Some of the brands launched by Bambino include: Hello Kitty, The Smurfs, The Snorkels, Garfield, Pink Panther, Good Luck Trolls, and Cap Toys. In the mid 1990s, anticipating the general economic trend in the region, JGTC restructured its Toys division which resulted in the launch of a whole-sale operation anchored by an exclusive range of toys, gifts and souvenirs under the brand “Bambino Creations”. “Jamal The Camel”, the first locally developed Camel plush-toy character became an instant hit across the Middle East with more than 2 dozen designs launched in the first year. They were even sold on Emirates Airlines’ In-Flight Duty Free Magazine becoming the number one selling toy for a record number of years. The year 2008 saw a restructuring of the business under the JGTC company name. Today, JGTC is the consolidating company holding two focus brands, Bambino Creations and desert Collections.
